Kate Duffy: Mini biography
I am a vivacious artist who seeks to capture the vibrancy and energy of every day life in all of my paintings.
Background
I’ve returned to painting after a number of years working in the media industry, and I’m finding it so refreshing to be back behind the easel. I’m currently experimenting with textures – so using layers of paint, or mixing paint with charcoal, pastel and sand. In the past I’ve mainly focused on landscapes/cityscapes but I’m about to start work on a number of portraits.
What is my aim when creating a new painting?
What’s important to me is creating a painting that means something, a painting that conveys an emotion or a sensation – something people can respond to.
All of my cityscapes are places I’ve visited and I try to capture the sense of each place – the calm of Varenna in Italy, the rush of vitality in Times Square NY, the collision of colour in Brighton.
Say hello
I hope you enjoy looking at my paintings and I’d love to know what think so drop me a comment.
Quote that sums me up:
“I’m not happy unless I’m painting.”
